Our Mandala

The Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy (Ireland), in preparation for the 1994 dedication of Mercy International Centre, wishes to emphasise their roots in Irish culture, as well as the complicated rhythms of daily life.

In this ancient design, life, death, work and play join in an interlacing pattern which is life's rhythm.

The sun, represented by the yellow colour, filters down through the atmosphere and warms the earth.

MandalaIn the second mandala:

SPIRAL DESIGN: Culture/people
CORN/WHEAT: Land
ROMANESQUE ARCH: Religion/skill (Rock of Cashel)

SYMBOL MEANS
weak overpowers the strong
good overpowers evil
trust in god and good wins in the end.
