Mercy Global Concern - 2002

The 46th regular annual session of the United Nations Commission on the Status
of Women (CSW) will focus on two thematic issues:
1) Eradicating poverty, including through the empowerment of women throughout
their life cycle in a globalizing world;
2) Environmental management and mitigation of natural disasters: a gender
perspective.
The meeting will include a special commemoration for International Women's
Day.
Briefings and special panels organized by UN bodies and women's NGOs will also
take place during the session, and NGO caucus meetings will be scheduled.
Mercy Global Concern (MGC) invites interested Sisters of Mercy, associates
and colleagues who are able to be in New York for one or both of the two weeks
of the meeting to partcipate as members of a Mercy team, bringing insights and
expertise to the issues under consideration. Those participating are required
to cover their own travel and accommodation expenses. MGC can provide some accommodation
options on request.
