Christmas Greetings 2004

Christmas greetings to all who acknowledge their reception of God's Mercy and live their lives helping to share it with all!

In our tropical city in North Queensland the Combined Churches of Townsville have been partnered by the City Council to create "Stable on the Strand" which runs for each evening of Christmas week in Strand Park by the sea. People of all ages and faiths travel through the large tent encountering people of 2000 years' ago at their work - activities that were carried on at the time of Jesus' birth - culminating in the tableau of Joseph, Mary and baby Jesus. Very many families and individuals have been rostered to play their part in the scene when Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem. Amid all the commercial and secular festivities, Stable on the Strand carries the true message of Christmas. May this Christmas be a time of recommitment for ourselves to thank God for the wonderful gift of Jesus and to be energised anew to continue spreading the Good News during 2005!

From the Townsville Congregation of Sisters of Mercy, Queensland, Australia.

Every best wish to all as we await the peace and joy the Christ Child brings this Christmas. And may his message of hope enlighten our lives and bring each of us blessings and enrichment in mercy in the coming Year - joyfully receiving and giving!

Affectionately, Mary Stainsby rsm Melbourne congregation/Australia
