Mercy Day Messages

El Señor Jesús nos bendiga con su misericordia y que podamos compartirla con las personas que están desesperadas y sin razones para vivir. Feliz Día para nuestras Hermanas, asociados, colaboradores y amistades.

Joyful Mercy Day greetings to all our sisters, associates, co-ministers, and friends around the world from the Sisters of Mercy and Mercy Associates in the Americas this Mercy Day!

As we go forward in Catherine's footsteps, meeting new needs in a changing world, we recall the many risks and challenges she gladly took - tending cholera victims in Dublin in 1832, offering herself to help immigrant families in Newfoundland in 1838, protecting and educating young girls in workhouses in Galway and ministering to the "Crottyites" in Birr in 1840, providing education for adults and converts in Birmingham in 1841. Can we resist the call to meet the challenges in our own times and countries?

Let us remember her strong, loving words to a nervous new Superior, "You are on the secure high road of the Cross . . . Let no temporal consideration influence your words or actions when your duty is in question . . . Do not fear offending anyone. Speak as your mind directs and always act with courage."

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all the Sisters of Mercy worldwide a very joyful, peace-filled and holy Mercy Day, as we think of who we are and what we are about following in the footsteps of Mother McAuley in 2004. I wonder what she would think of us all????

Every blessing on you and on your work. Love

To all my friends in the Mercy sisters. May you celebrate all your many achievements on this your feast day. Christ be with you all.

Dear Mercy Sisters across the World,

Greetings and love to each of you as we celebrate Mercy Day! How wonderful to be able to communicate by e-mail to so many! Let us remember one another in prayer as we continue to live the spirit and challenge of Catherine McAuley. These are exciting times for us in the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas as we re-imagine new areas of governance and begin to widen our Circles of Mercy to include sisters from other regions. I am certain that Catherine is watching all we do with great delight. Have a delightful Mercy Day!

Love and many blessings,

Hello from Celina RSM of Guyana, South America

Happy Mercy day. In thanksgiving and appreciation to God for all that God has done for us as a community and in our personal lives. Let us continue to be good and gracious to one another.

Above all, give thanks to God..

As we prepare for the feast of Our Lady of Mercy Day 2004 our greetings come to convey a connection with all of our Mercy Sisters, Young Mercies (Perth) and Associates throughout the world. May Catherine McAuley give us the cue to keep going believing that our little efforts are part of a big mosaic of Mercy in the world today. With you in hope prayer and celebration.
