Mercy Day Messages

The membership from the Regional Community of Detroit wish all of our Sisters, Associates, Mercy Volunteer Corps members a very blessed Mercy Day. Following in the footsteps of Catherine McAuley may we trust in God's providential care as we make decisions today that will affect the life and ministry of Mercy for generations to come.

One of my favourite blessings in the Morning and Evening Prayer of the Sisters of Mercy is 'Bless us, O God, with the energy and vision of the gospel.' May we be blessed this way as we unite in celebrating our call to Mercy.

Isn't it great that we are all united as Sisters of Mercy. We have a great foundress in Mother Catherine McAuley and such a great order. Other orders are just beginning this process of uniting their various counterparts Hooray for us.

From the western shores of the Pacific Ocean
to the eastern stretches of the Atlantic seaboard,
the US Province of the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy
sends greetings to all of you!
May Catherine's spirit continue to animate you.
May our Mother Mary inspire your faith,
and may the embracing arms of God's Mercy fill you with great compassion for yourself and all the people with whom you minister.

On this Mercy day 2004 as we ponder the gift of 'Mercy', let us pray to Catherine.
She was a woman of God, and God made her a woman of vision, that we in our time will become a leaven for good in a hurting world.

Once again, I'm delighted to send loving greetings of peace and hope to all Mercy sisters from Yogyakarta, Indonesia.I have met many Mercy Sisters in different parts of the world, over my years as an FCJ sister. Greetings to all, for a very happy day and blessings on each one.

Affectionately,
Maryrose Dennehy FCJ

Prayers and good wishes to all of our Sisters in Mercy around the world from a small town in Bucks County, Pennsylvania! The Sisters here are involved in education at various levels: elementary school principal, director of religious education, administrator of an afterschool program for inner city children and one sister does consulting, facilitation of chapters and parish councils. We pray for all of you, especially those involved with poor people in countries suffering from famine, poverty, violence and oppression. We rejoice in all our Sisters do to bring the Mercy of Jesus and the compassion of Catherine to the world.

Mercy day blessings on all those in educational ministry around the world--Sisters, Associates, co-workers. As we go about this "business of our lives" may we once again remember there is "no work of charity more productive of good to society than the careful [education of women and men]."

Happy Mercy Day from the Conference for Mercy Higher Education
