Mercy Day Blessings and heartfelt greetings to all in our Mercy Circle today from the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas!

As we stand in witness to great sadness and suffering in our poor dear world, we recall Catherine’s instruction to her sisters, and, were she here today, to Mercy Associates, Companions in Mercy and all our co-ministers.

We should be particularly kind – the kindest people on earth, with the tenderest pity and compassion for the poor.

May our lives bear witness to goodness, kindness and love that still prevail wherever we may be.

The Sisters of Mercy of the Americas!

On this Mercy Day, in the year in which we celebrate 175 years since the founding of the Sisters of Mercy, let us remain centred in the God of Mercy, as we refocus our Mercy Mission at local and global levels.

With love from the outgoing and incoming Congregational Leadership Teams of the Congregation of the Sisters of Mercy, Ireland.

E Te Atua Atawhai God of unbounded mercy,
W e acknowledge that all mission is yours,
A sharing of your goodness that overflows,
To welcome and embrace,
To reconcile and renew,
Wherever your transforming love may go.

Hari ra atawhai ki a koutou katoa.
Happy Mercy Day to all.

The Sisters of Mercy of the Union send warm Mercy Day greetings to all Sisters of Mercy and Associates in this special year of celebration.

Around the Mercy world, special anniversaries are being marked this year. On our feast-day 24 September, 2006, we pray that our many celebrations will

  • Awaken our joyful gratitude for all those whose names are already etched on the pages of Catherine"s 175 year old story
  • Call us to courageous risk-taking as our lives write today"s chapter of the story;
  • Fill us with deep hope that the story will continue to be told in the mission of Mercy women, men and children into the future.

Greeting from Nerida Tinkler rsm, Caroline Ryan rsm, Karon Donnellon rsm (Institute Leadership Team) Australia
