'As we here in the Townsville Congregation of Sisters of Mercy prepare to celebrate Mercy Day 2007, we send greetings to our merciful Sisters and brothers all over the world. In the lead up to Mercy Day, our schools and institutions have been celebrating "Yellow Rose Day" in Masses and Liturgical celebrations. This has been happening since a special rose was raised a number of years ago in Australia in Catherine's honour and named after her. The Catherine McAuley rose is yellow in colour, has a dedicated fragrance and grows in clusters. The rose symbolises Catherine's graciousness in being a bearer of God's mercy to those around her and the clusters represent the groups of Sisters of Mercy and men and women of mercy throughout the world. One of our Sisters continually makes small paper 'yellow roses' which are distributed in our ceremonies.
May Our Lady of Mercy ask her Son to help us all grow in love and compassion during the coming year. '

Greetings and a Happy Mercy Day to all members of this world wide community that is Mercy from the faculty and students of Muffles College, Belize.
Muffles College is a co-educational high school that is proud of its Mercy heritage. On Mercy Day, we have a special mass and a tree-planting ceremony on campus for our students. Students also engage in community service on this day.
May we continue the legacy of Catherine McAuley in our little corners of the world and in her words "may God in His mercy bless and protect you all".

As Mercy...
we clasp Christ's hand and are led
to experience the fullness of being
by living fully in the present
to taste the salt of tears
and the joy of surprise
to delight as we play in God's shadow
secure in god's loving care
to be readied, waiting, listening to God's word
so it may root itself deeply into our hearts.
Open to the Spirit, we allow God to empty us
in order to fill us and fashion us into women who spend their lives for others...as Mercy.

Greetings to our Mercy Sisters, Associates and Colleagues throughout the world from Barbara and the Grafton Sisters of Mercy

Congregation Secretary and Local Communications Facilitator

To all who share the vision of a more just and merciful world, my heartfelt gratitude for your presence, ministry, and prayer that make such a difference in people's lives, one day at a time, one step at a time!
In the face of greed and violence, we stand and speak not as a weak lone voice but out of a profound sense of building up the community of God's family. When I am weary or discouraged, you hold me up. When I accomplish something, you share the joy. When I run short of ideas, you stimulate thinking. When I am unable to respond to a need, you come forward. When I have a glimpse of the possible, you encourage and support it. When I find it hard to resist the consumer culture, you call me to account.
By our standing together, we strengthen one another's faith, hope, and love even in the midst of betrayal, despair, hatred, and indifference.
By our standing together, we can help one another to model and live out the core mission that Jesus had and then left in our hands: the blind receive new sight, the deaf hear, the lame walk, and those who are hungry, thirsty, homeless, or impriaoned experience good news for a change.
This is a priceless treasure that we carry in fragile vessels. Even when they shatter, let us pick up the pieces and carry on.
Thank God for each one of you and for struggling to become a strong voice for the voiceless!
Gratefully,
M. Gratia L'Esperance
