An Gáirdín Project of Mercy Sisters in West of Ireland to feature on radio

In 1994, a small group of us Mercy Sisters in Clonfert Diocese (West of Ireland) came together to find new ways of expressing their commitment to the Earth.

They were awakening to the vision of Earth as a living organism, a great web of interconnectedness and interdependent life. They shared the desire to rediscover together who we humans are as a strand of this magnificent web.

You could say they shared the desire to ‘come home’ to Earth after a long absence. And so An Gáirdín came into being!

An Gáirdín is the Irish (gaelic) word for 'the garden'.

Sr. Noreen Lyons will be on Mid West Radio on Wednesday 30th July at approx. 10.30am on the “Ours to Protect” programme. Sr. Noreen is part of the Team at An Gáirdín.

25 Years On

Currently, the An Gáirdín Education Programme and its Organic Growing are facilitated by a team of six people, two of whom are Mercy Sisters. As the need arises they can call on volunteers. A small group of those who share An Gáirdín’s vision meet regularly for support, study and reflection.
