Caroline Thompson presents workshop to The Mercy 5 Schools in Sydney Australia on Leadership in the Spirit of Mercy

Supported by the Sisters of Mercy North Sydney and Parramatta, since 2014, two coordinators facilitated the program of formation for students and staff of 5 of the 6 Mercy founded High Schools in Sydney. The aim of the program is to facilitate the promotion and deepening of the Mercy charism within the students and staff at the Mercy 5 schools, which results in Mercy Action, and to provide opportunities for collaboration and networking between the students and staff of the participating schools.

This week Caroline Thompson, Head of Heritage and Spirituality at Mercy International Association, presented to Middle Leaders from the five Mercy schools on Leadership in the Spirit of Mercy.

The five schools are: Catherine McAuley College Westmead, Mercy Catholic College Chatswood, Our Lady of Mercy College Parramatta, Monte Sant Angelo Mercy College North Sydney and Our Lady of Mercy College Burraneer.

The workshop was hosted by Monte Sant Angelo Mercy College in North Sydney, a school founded in 1865 by Mother Ignatius McQuoin. It is a beautiful campus – an oasis of mercy in the heart of the city of Sydney skyscrapers.

The participants in the workshop were invited to consider what Mercy leadership looks like in their school in the contemporary context. Using the life and inspiration of Catherine McAuley each participant considered their own gifts and challenges and the blessings of Mercy charism for their own leadership journey.
