Cookie Notice: Important Information About Changes We Are Making on Our Website

Changes in Data Protection Require Your Consent

From Tuesday, 6 October, changes in data protection guidance in Ireland mean that we need to make changes to our Cookie Notice. Cookies are small text files placed on your computer when you visit a website. These assign your device a unique identifier.

The first time you visit the Mercyworld.org website after Monday 5 October you will see the cookie notice - extract pictured right. Aside from appearance, the main change is that we will now require your consent for all non-essential cookies to be placed on your device.

Types of Cookies on Our Website

We have two types of cookies on our site that while important, are non-essential. Functional cookies enhance your experience of the website while Performance cookies allow us to see how well our website is performing.

On the new cookie notice on our website you will have the option to consent to the use of functional and performance cookies or to reject their use - as shown right.

To opt in to both types, click the 'Accept All' button.
To reject both types, click the 'Reject All' button. You can also opt in to each type individually, by selecting the switch and pressing the 'Save Settings' option.

Changing Your Preferences

Once your preferences have been made and saved, the cookie notice will not appear again on that device for 6 months (180 days). However, if you switch to another device, you will need to repeat the process.

You can change your cookie preferences at any time by clicking the icon - as shown above. This icon appears on the right hand side of your screen, and when clicked, will reopen the cookie settings menu.

We are also taking this opportunity to update our Privacy Notice.
