Death of Sr Ita Keane

It was with great sadness and shock that we learned of the death of Sr. Ita Keane, RIP, a member of the Sisters of the Union, Great Britain. Tragically, Sr Ita was knocked down by a car while crossing the road and died later in hospital.

Ita was an enthusiastic supporter of MIA, both while in the ministry  of leadership in her own congregation and later as director of the heritage centre at Handsworth, Birmingham, and she nurtured links between Catherine’s first and last foundations – Baggot Street and Handsworth.

We remember in prayer her grieving family and community and all the Sisters of the Union. We share their loss and the loss of the wider community whom she served so generously, and in this season of Easter faith we are sure that she is now sharing in the risen life of Christ.

Ita will be remembered in a Eucharistic celebration in Baggot Street on May 11th when the MIA Members and Board meet.
