Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, used her inheritance in service of the needs of her time. Today, Sisters of Mercy, through Mercy International Association, use their resources to respond to issues of global poverty demonstrated in the massive displacement of persons worldwide...This vision keeps alive the founding spirit of Catherine among peoples of the world most in need of God's compassion and mercy.

Mercy International Association – 2011 Programme Schedule

2011 is a special year for all Sisters of Mercy and those affiliated with us. It marks the 180th anniversary of the founding of the Sisters of Mercy, and the 170th anniversary of the death of Catherine McAuley.

Mercy International Association has exciting plans for this special year, including a diversity of programmes. Among the programmes being offered, two have already generated a great deal of enthusiasm. In July 2011, MIA will be running a month-long renewal programme: ‘Watering the Roots at the Wellspring of Mercy.’ This programme will offer participants refreshment and renewal as well as opportunities for theological reflection on the mission of Mercy in our church and world. The following month in August 2011, MIA will welcome 150 Young Mercy Leaders aged 16-30 to Dublin for a pilgrimage.
