No. 388 | 26 October 2010

Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, used her inheritance in service of the needs of her time. Today, Sisters of Mercy, through Mercy International Association, use their resources to respond to issues of global poverty demonstrated in the massive displacement of persons worldwide...This vision keeps alive the founding spirit of Catherine among peoples of the world most in need of God's compassion and mercy.

Asylum Seekers and Refugees (Australia)

'Asylum Seekers and Refugees' is one of the four issues of concern of the Institute of Sisters of Mercy of Australia.

Denise Coghlan rsm (The ache of displacement) and Maryanne Loughry rsm AM (People on the move) speak in these video stories -recently updated on the Institute's website - with passion and conviction of the situations of displaced peoples.  These videos provide the 'story' component of the online theological reflection proces: Story - Context - Reflection - Action.

An invitation exists to contribute online to ongoing discussion regarding these issues of national Mercy concern.
