| Global Action Lived Locally: A Case Study from the Americas Take Action to Stop Trafficking The Institute of Sisters of Mercy of the Americas have been addressing human trafficking out of a commitment to persons living in poverty and particular concerns for women, for immigrants and an end to violence. Efforts by the Sisters of Mercy cover a range of activities, including challenging hotels on their policies and practices on this issue, supporting newsletters, offering educational workshops and forming networks against human trafficking. A member of the Sisters of Mercy Institute Justice Team is participating in a new committee on human trafficking organized by Mercy International Association. | Religious Investors Address Trafficking at Super Bowl (Americas) Since major sporting events are occasions for increased human trafficking activity, the Coalition for Corporate Responsibility in Indiana and Michigan (CCRIM) will be contacting all hotels within a 50-mile radius of the location of the 2012 Super Bowl in Indianapolis. The Sisters of Mercy of the Americas belong to CCRIM through Mercy Investment Services, the single investment program for the Institute and sponsored ministries. Together with other members of this group, they have contacted over 220 hotels challenging them with questions regarding their policies on issues of human trafficking.
