Catherine McAuley, foundress of the Sisters of Mercy, used her inheritance in service of the needs of her time. Today, Sisters of Mercy, through Mercy International Association, use their resources to respond to issues of global poverty demonstrated in the massive displacement of persons worldwide...This vision keeps alive the founding spirit of Catherine among peoples of the world most in need of God's compassion and mercy.

Feature

Watering the Roots at the Wellspring of Mercy - Week 2 (MIA)

Editor: During the first week of the renewal programme Marie Chin rsm (Americas) led the participants in an exploration of the contemporary context for Religious Life and the meaning of the vows. Particular attention was given to ecological understandings of ourselves in our world. Last week, Veronica Lawson rsm (ISMAPNG) built upon the foundations laid by Marie and deepened the exploration of what it means to embody mercy in a world 'being shattered by displacement'.

Veronica is a biblical scholar and highly experienced teacher of Scripture.  Throughout the week, she led the renewal group in engaging with Lukan stories of mercy, compassion, justice and liberation.
