MIA Prayer Intention: Death and Destruction as a Result of Flooding
Unseasonably heavy rains unleashed floods and landslides in Kenya’s west, with at least 60 lives lost and another 9 lives lost as a result of violent storms last weekend in parts of France, Greece and Italy .
As we pray with and for the victims of these floods, let us also continue to hold in prayer all those who are suffering in Australia from drought and bushfires.
Post your prayer in our online chapel.

New Biography Features Sister Theresa Kane
In 1979, Theresa Kane rsm, then-president of LCWR, was invited to offer a greeting to Pope John Paul II during his visit to the USA. She used the opportunity to ask him to open all the ministries of the Church to women. Last week the book, To Speak the Truth in Love: A Biography of Theresa Kane, RSM, written by Christine Schenk, SSJ, was released by the publisher Orbis Books (Maryknoll, New York). Through Theresa’s story, this book documents an important period of contemporary Catholic history when she and so many other sisters exercised unparalleled leadership in the Catholic Church by speaking truth to power—with love, wisdom, and grace.

1st Sunday of Advent Year A
Matthew 24:37-44
'As we begin a new liturgical year, Matthew's Jesus invites us to contemplate the ultimate realities even as we attend to the demands of the present. He tells us to be “awake”, to be “ready” all the time, not because death or the end of the world are around the corner, but because we need to recognise the multiple “advents” or arrivals of the Christ, the Human One, who calls us beyond self-absorption to Life...'

New Conference for Mercy Higher Education (CMHE) website
The design of this new website reflects the emphasis that CMHE is placing on the covenant relationship with our Mercy colleges and universities. We know that the Mission Peer Review, the Mission Integration Core Areas document, and the Some Characteristics of Mercy Higher Education will serve to strengthen and support the mutual accountabilities of the Covenant, and we know that the development of mission formation programs at all levels of the college/university will be integral to the future of Mercy in Catholic higher education.

International Days
1 December: World AIDS Day
‘More than ever we need to harness the role of community-led organizations that advocate for their peers, deliver HIV services, defend human rights and provide support. Where communities are engaged, we see change happen. We see investment lead to results. And we see equality, respect and dignity. With communities, we can end AIDS.’
- UN Secretary-General António Guterres

The Bottom Line
‘We are called to journey together with a gaze of understanding and forgiveness, to open the horizon to hope and to bring a ray of light amid the many clouds that today darken the sky… Our world, interconnected not only by globalization but by the very earth we have always shared, demands, today more than ever, that interests exclusive to certain groups or sectors be left to one side, in order to achieve the greatness of those who struggle co-responsibly to ensure a common future.’
