)
Joan Chittister OSB has accepted MIA’s invitation to contribute to our Generative Conversation planned for 20 through 23 September. At the second session, Joan will be interviewed by Elizabeth MacNeal, MIA Head of Heritage and Spirituality.
There is still plenty of time to register to attend what promises to be a lively and enlightening conversation around the mission of MIA since Catherine’s times and especially now in our present era. Spanish translation will be available for this event, including translated materials. More information about the event is available here.

Season of Creation Event at Baggot Street
Come celebrate with us!
From September 1 to October 4, the Christian family celebrates the gift of Creation. During this Season, we renew our relationship with our Creator and all creation through celebration, conversation, and commitment.
MIA would like to invite our Mercy community to gather at Mercy International Centre on Tuesday, 7th of September 2021 for a celebration of prayer and action to protect our Common Home. The gathering will offer space for reflection, prayer, and support to encourage participants to make sustainable lifestyle changes on both an individual level and an institutional level. There will be a limit of 20 people with appropriate protective measures in place - including social distancing requirements.

MIA Prayer Intention: Bearing Witness
Your continued prayers are asked for the people of Afghanistan and all who suffer anxiety about the welfare of those who are displaced because of the recent upheaval in their country. In Haiti, there are many who are suffering, due to the death or injury of loved ones and so much loss and insecurity as the country suffers the impact of major earthquakes and storms. Sadly, there are many other situations we could add here in which great suffering is being experienced.
May our hearts be moved to compassion and to making whatever merciful response is possible for us. In Jesus, we know that God is with all who suffer and that God shares the suffering of people and all of Creation. We pray especially for all those who are making an immediate response to bring relief, that they may find strength in the difficulties they face. God-of-those-who-suffer, let them know, and let us know, your presence among us…

Mercy Partners: Connecting with Indigenous Persons
Mercy Partners invites you to reflect on the fourth key pathway: Thriving communities and sustainable economies outlined in Wiyi Yani U Thangani (Women’s Voices) available here.
A Catholic Social Thought approach, asserts that all people have a right to participate in the economic, political, and cultural life of society. Living justly demands we ensure human dignity, human flourishing and community development.
This reflection invites you to consider: How can your ministry answer the call to ensure First Nations women and girls can flourish as individuals, as families and as communities?

The human right to migrate, and the right to stay: A reflection from Mary Kay Dobrovolny, rsm
In March 2021, I moved to the U.S.-Mexico border in Southern California. I'm an unlikely person to be here. I'm white, non-Hispanic with much to learn about Latinx culture and history. A native English speaker, I grew up with a severe speech impediment (no longer discernable today) and struggle to learn the oral communication aspects of language. I feel my limitations daily.
I am on a spiritual journey of transformation here at the border. The needs are immense, and my ability to respond limited.
From late March until early July, the San Diego Convention Center served 3,213 unaccompanied migrant youth; as a faith leader, I was able to be present to them. With my limited Spanish, I prayed a blessing over each child who chose to come for a blessing…
