Mercy Day Mass Update & Prayer Service
)
Mercy International Association has made the difficult decision to cancel in-person Mercy Day celebrations due to COVID-19. To honour our commitment to gather on the Feast of Our Lady of Mercy, we are offering a virtual mass at Baggot Street. MIA will release the recording of Mass at Baggot Street through eNews on 21st September. A mass booklet, available in English and Spanish, will be included in the announcement.
For those in our global Mercy community who would like to host their own event and are in need of resources, MIA has prepared a prayer service document to accompany this year’s theme, Opening Doors to an Emerging Future.

MIA Prayer Intention: All Who are Continuing to Suffer Greatly in the Pandemic
We pray for the generosity of spirit that will keep us mindful of all those who are suffering greatly as this pandemic continues: for all who have suffered the loss of those close to them, for those who have experienced serious illness themselves, for all who have suffered economic hardship, for those afflicted by mental illness through their isolation, and for all who have suffered in countless ways.
May I be alert to ways in which I can help even if only a little. Generous God fill my heart. Amen.
An opportunity is coming to join the Mercy World for a special prayer for these COVID times on the Feast of the Holy Cross, September 14. Additional details will be provided in the next Mercy enews.

Mercy principal cheers former student to Olympic gold
Sister of Mercy Percylee Hart was among the 500 pair of eyes glued to televisions at the Stage House Tavern in Mountainside, New Jersey on Aug. 3 cheering area favorite Sydney McLaughlin to a gold medal in the 400-meter hurdles at the Tokyo Olympics. In fact, McLaughlin broke her own world record.
“As I was watching her win the gold it was surreal, it was unbelievable,” recalled Percylee, McLaughlin’s principal when a student at Union Catholic Regional High School in Scotch Plains, New Jersey.
“This ultimate joy just burst from me! It was hard to define the magnitude of that joy. I think I let out a ‘Wow!’ and ‘Gold Syd Gold.’ I don’t know how to scream, but I’m sure I yelled,” laughed Percylee.
