Celebrating 180 Years: Remembrance Day
)
This week, on November 11th, the Mercy World will celebrate 180 years since Catherine McAuley passed away at Baggot Street in Dublin, Ireland. On Remembrance Day, we celebrate Catherine’s life, her ministry, and her footsteps which we continue to follow. Catherine was a woman deeply inspired by the Gospel who lived her call by God to serve the most marginalized members of our society. Mercy continues this call today.
As we celebrate the Mercy community’s 180th Remembrance Day, Mercy International Association invites each of you to pray with us. We are a global community because of Catherine’s vision. Though we may be far apart, in prayer we stand together as one community of Mercy. Please download the Remembrance Day Prayer Service and know that wherever you are, we are praying with you.

MIA Board of Directors Message: Mercy Global Presence Programme Final Report
At its recent meeting, the Board considered the final report Mercy Global Presence Process: Weaving a New Fabric of Mercy through Global Contemplation and Ecological Conversion.
The materials generated from the Mercy Global Presence Process, accompanied by what was revealed through the Mercy International Reflection Process, now provide the Mercy World with a rich living resource that will continue to educate, inspire, and give meaning to all as we move into the future. Add to these the recent insights gained from the Generative Conversation, and we have a treasure that deserves time and attention to uncover the wisdom flowing from each of these experiences.
Given the breadth and quality of the materials generated by these processes, the Board would now like MIA to take time to reflect on and celebrate all that has been revealed. The richness of the resource is highly valued. It is being utilised in many of the programmes led by both Mercy Global Action and MIA Heritage and Spirituality.
With gratitude, joy, and hope the Board sees this time as a period for integration in which the wisdom brought forth by the numerous MIA initiatives will be borne out in MIA’s upcoming strategic planning and as we look toward an ever-evolving world.
The MGP Report will be available in next week’s eNews in both English and Spanish.

MIA Prayer Intention: The Beatification of Catherine McAuley
On the 180th anniversary of Catherine McAuley’s death, we are reminded of the significance of role models within the Church. Catherine herself said, “Since God’s power is not limited to time or space, we have the same means as the greatest saints had. God can effect in us what he accomplished in them. In fact to arrive at their sanctity requires no more than to simply perform our daily actions perseveringly and regularly for this is what constitutes a saint.”
Catherine was declared Venerable by Pope John Paul II on April 9, 1990. Today, we pray for her beatification, a declaration of Blessed, as the next step towards Canonisation. Together, we pray…
Loving God, You chose Catherine McAuley for the service of your people who are Poor, Sick and Uneducated. You inspired her to found the Sisters of Mercy so that these good works might endure. Give to each of us a portion of her compassionate spirit and an ardent desire to serve your suffering people. Graciously hear our prayers for Catherine and by granting the favours we ask through her intercession, hasten the day when her sanctity will be celebrated by all the Church. Amen.
