MIA Prayer Intention: Human Trafficking

On February 8, the world celebrates the International Day of Prayer and Awareness Against Human Trafficking. This International Day is celebrated on the Feast Day of Josephine Bakhita, a Sudanese slave, freed, who became a Canossian nun and was declared a Saint in 2000. The Mercy community has a long history of caring for those most neglected and abandoned by society, and so it is with particular care we invite you to a moment of prayer.

MIA invites members of Mercy World to participate in this day in two ways. 1. Participate virtually from 9am-5pm (Rome) by praying with the Religious Sisters of Talitha Kum and partner organizations. 2. Join the Mercy Global Action team for a virtual gathering on either Feb 7th 9pm-10pm (NYC) or Feb 8th 9am-10am (NYC) via Zoom (link here). The online prayer will highlight this year’s theme, “The power of care – Women, Economy, Human Trafficking’  through the lens of Mercy and will draw on the vigil prayer prepared by Talitha Kum. All are welcome.

Service.”—resonates strongly in the mission of each of Mercy education ministries, where Catholic identity and Mercy charism harmonize to nurture highly competent and deeply compassionate leaders ready to serve a vulnerable world.
