Spiritual Directors Retreat at Baggot Street!
Mercy International Centre hosted a Spiritual Director’s retreat this past week. The retreat was facilitated by Maria DiBello, rsm who led the group in reflection and expertise to unpack the weight of spiritual accompaniment while learning new tools for the future. MIC is very grateful to Maria for sharing her talent and gracious spirit with us and the participants! One participant noted, “I am leaving this retreat enriched, encouraged, affirmed, and confirmed on my journey” while another wrote “Catherine would be so proud.”
MIC’s next week-long programme will be facilitated by Nellie McLaughlin, rsm from June 20 -24, 2022. Details of the programme, Eco-spirituality & the 8th Work of Mercy, are available here and below.

MIA Prayer Intention: Spiritual Growth
Catherine gently reminds us that how we choose to nourish our prayer lives is a significant part of our spiritual growth. In this Easter season, as newness and life abound, we are called to care for our prayer life in new ways. Catherine writes “Prayer is a plant, the seed of which is sown in the heart of every Christian, but its growth entirely depends on the care we take to nourish it.”
And so in the stillness, we pray…
May each of us find new ways to pray. May we find You in the quiet, the gentle breeze, the cool rain. May we know you through the warmth of conversation and the eyes of strangers. May each of us find the courage to strengthen our spiritual lives through the gift of prayer and find comfort knowing Catherine’s commitment to praying with You. Amen.

Pope Video May: For Faith-Filled Young People
This month of May, the Pope begins a cycle of three prayer intentions dedicated to the family. He has decided to begin by speaking first to young people, who “want to build something new.” He offers them an example to follow: “When I think of a model with whom young people can identify with, our Mother, Mary, always comes to mind.” Francis asks young people to take risks like she did, keeping in mind that they “need to discern and discover what Jesus wants” from them.
In this discernment, Francis says, “it’s a great help to listen to the words of grandparents.” And he proposes three companions for their life journey: courage, knowing how to listen, and dedication to service.
