MIA Board Meets in Dublin
)
For the first time since February 2020, all Board Directors were able to travel to Dublin for an in-person meeting. In addition to the usual business of the meeting, the Directors reviewed MIA’s Ethical Investment Policy, attended the AGM, and had the opportunity to meet with MIA Members over two days.
Board members were delighted to have the opportunity to connect in person with the Members. There was lively discussion on matters of common interest and a particular focus on how MIA has evolved to this point and continues to evolve. Sr Denise Fox was available to join in these discussions as she takes up leadership of a special board project to consider the future of MIA.

MGA Staff Member Cecilie Speaks at United Nations International Migration Review Forum
Cecilie Kern, Global Policy & Research Advocate at MIA, spoke at the United Nations International Migration Review Forum last week. Cecilie highlighted the importance of migrant voices and access to services regardless of migration status saying, “Faith based and other civil society organizations fill important gaps in providing essential services across the migration cycle. We are at the frontlines - running hospitals, schools and shelters, providing legal services, skills training, and psychosocial support for victims and survivors of gender-based violence. Most importantly, we accompany people who are on difficult and life-changing journeys to ensure that they feel safe, welcome, and included.”
Cecilie and the MGA staff engaged with UN Member States and observed intense negotiations during the IMRF. Mercy was present for the adoption of the IMRF Progress Declaration.

MIA Prayer Intention: Laudato Si' Week
This week, around the world, we are called to participate in Laudato Si’ week to draw attention to the climate crisis and our responsibility to deepen our relationship with the earth.
We pray together…
Loving God, creator of heaven and earth and all this is in them, You created us in Your own image and made us stewards of all Your creation. You blessed us with the sun, water and bountiful land so that all might be nourished. Open our minds and touch our hearts, so that we may attend to your gift of creation. Help us to be conscious that our common home belongs not only to us, but to all of Your creatures and to all future generations, and that it is our responsibility to preserve it.

NEW BOOK: The Splendour of Caring
Written by Dr Kathleen M Murphy, rsm (UK), this book presents twelve stories of vulnerability, mercy, healing, forgiveness, and joy. Kathleen writes, "This book is a bird's eye view into how the Sisters of Mercy fulfill their fourth vow of service following in the footsteps of Catherine McAuley, our Venerable Foundress in the service of those in need. Its aim is to attract others to service by letting them see how the Holy Spirit works through Mercy Sisters, partners, and co-workers who listen, hear, and respond to ever-growing but often hidden needs in God's people today.” This book is a source of inspiration for the call to Mercy that is being heard and heeded by many.
The book is available in-store and online from all St Pauls book shops in the UK or St Pauls Book Store in Ireland.
