Celebrating Mercy Day 2022
)
Mercy International Association is preparing to celebrate Mercy Day 2022 both virtually and in-person! This year’s theme, Catherine McAuley: Boundary Breaker, highlights our global Mercy community’s commitment to breaking boundaries in order to create a more just and merciful world for all. During Mercy Week, MIA will host virtual dialogues, Mass at Baggot Street, and participate in Dublin’s Culture Night on 23 September.
The three virtual dialogue experiences will explore how Catherine broke boundaries, how we in Mercy continue to break boundaries today, and how we are called to break boundaries in the future. Sessions will be hosted via Zoom at 9pm (Dublin) for 1.5 hours in both English and Spanish. To register for the sessions please click here. Additionally, all are invited to Mercy Day Mass at 12pm noon on Saturday, 24 September. To register to attend mass in-person, please call MIC or email Thomas, MIC receptionist, at info@mercyinternational.ie. Please note that space in the Chapel is limited.

RESIDENTIAL VOLUNTEER INVITATION FOR 2023
Mercy International Association invites you to consider volunteering at Mercy International Centre (MIC) in Dublin during the 2023 calendar year. A full schedule of programmes for 2023 will be offered and we expect it will be a busy year. Volunteers assist with hospitality needs and are a vital part of MIC's ability to extend a sincere welcome to all.
Mercy International is deeply grateful to those who volunteer, and we urge you to get in touch if you are interested. Accommodation at MIC is offered to two volunteers at a time, and volunteers typically stay for a period of two months. If you are interested, please complete the Expression of Interest form here by 7 August 2022. The Facilities Manager coordinates the volunteer programme and can be contacted at facilities@mercyinternational.ie for further information.
We look forward to welcoming you to Catherine’s home and sharing this work of Mercy with you.

MIA Prayer Intention: Our Connection to Earth
As the UN Ocean Conference comes to a close in Lisbon, we are especially mindful of our connection with earth and the impact our actions have on creation. Mercy Global Action’s ocean advocacy has called each of us to reflect on our relationship with the world around us and so, mindful of the sacredness of creation, we pray…
I do not want to step so quickly
Over a beautiful line on God’s palm
As I move through the earth’s marketplace today.
I do not want to touch any object in this world
Without my eyes testifying to the truth
That everything is my Beloved.
Something has happened to my understanding of existence
That now makes my heart always full of wonder and kindness.
I do not want to step so quickly
Over this sacred place on God's body
That is right beneath your own foot
As I dance with precious life today.

MGA Office Relocation
The Mercy Global Action Office has relocated from the sixth to the tenth floor of the Church Center at the United Nations. This new location provides greater space for staff to work and includes a small conference room which facilitates our online meetings. Accompanying this message are some pictures of the new office. Significantly, pictured, you will see the beautifully hand-crafted plaques of the thirty articles which make up the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. We are indebted to the Kern family (Cecilie's family) who generously created these and gifted them to the Mercy office.

Pope Video July: For the Elderly
In this video, Pope Francis continues his focus on family by talking about our connections with the elderly. The Pope says:
“Grandparents and the elderly are the bread that nourishes our lives, the hidden wisdom of a people. That is why we must celebrate them, and I have established a day dedicated to them.” This month’s prayer intention coincides with the celebration of the Second World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, which will be celebrated on Sunday, July 24, in Rome as well as in all the dioceses around the world.
