)
The Mercy Global Action Migration Task Force’s report ‘Breaking Boundaries: A Mercy Response to People on the Move’ was born from a collection of stories and experiences of Mercy work with migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers around the world. The report is tied together by human rights-based critical analysis and Catholic social teaching. MIA Prayer Intention: All Souls Day
Mercy International prays for the souls of the faithfully departed this week. We are reminded of Catherine’s celebration of the afterlife when she remarked “Will we all meet in Heaven? O what a joy even to think of it!” In this spirit, we reflect on a reading from the Book of Wisdom:
The souls of the just are in the hand of God, and no torment shall touch them. They seemed, in the view of the foolish, to be dead; and their passing away was thought an affliction and their going forth from us, utter destruction. But they are in peace. For if before men, indeed, they be punished, yet is their hope full of immortality; chastised a little, they shall be greatly blessed, because God tried them and found them worthy of himself. As gold in the furnace, he proved them, and as sacrificial offerings he took them to himself. In the time of their visitation they shall shine, and shall dart about as sparks through stubble; they shall judge nations and rule over peoples, and the LORD shall be their King forever. Those who trust in him shall understand truth, and the faithful shall abide with him in love: because grace and mercy are with his holy ones, and his care is with his elect.

The Pope Video November: For Children who Suffer
In his November video, Francis invites us to pray for the “millions of boys and girls who suffer and live in conditions very similar to slavery,” and he asks us to open our eyes to “the exploitation of these children who don’t have a right to play, to study, to dream. They don’t even enjoy the warmth of a family.” “Those who are homeless, orphans, and victims of war”: the world is full of children without a childhood, and each of them – the Pope says in this video – is “a cry that rises up to God and shames the system that we adults have built.”
