MIA Prayer Intention: Water
Mercy International celebrates and prays in the spirit of the UN Water Conference and World Water Day! In 1977, world leaders, water experts and policymakers from around the world gathered in Argentina for the UN Water Conference. This week, almost 50 years later, the global community gathers again in New York for the second ever UN Water Conference. “Water is a dealmaker for the Sustainable Development Goals, and for the health and prosperity of people and planet. But our progress on water related goals and targets remains alarmingly off track, jeopardizing the entire sustainable development agenda.” Together, we pray…
Great Healer, You are good and merciful. Touch precious little ones endangered by dirty water and poor sanitation and hygiene. Loving God, we ask for Your blessings on children, mothers, fathers, and communities who are thirsty. Purify, protect, and multiply their water sources. Strengthen their resolve so they may fully enjoy the benefits of clean water — essentials like education, gardens of fresh produce, and good health.
The streams of God are filled with water to provide the people with grain, for so you have ordained it.—Psalm 65:9 (NIV). Amen.
Prayer adapted from World Vision. Read about Mercy Global Action’s Mercy Water Campaign.

Catherine's Suscipe: Sun, 21 May - Fri, 26 May
Catherine was a social mystic - a woman whose spirituality had direct social implications for the people of her day. We too are social mystics with those we serve through our ministries impacted by our own spirituality. During this guided retreat we will explore Catherine’s Suscipe, listening attentively with the ‘ear of our hearts’ to the fresh and encouraging words she wishes to share with us. Renewed and refreshed in Mercy, we will go forth to face the issues of our own time with Catherine’s depth of imagination and courage! Facilitated by Mary Pat Garvin, rsm. Residential: €575 (Accommodation & all meals) Non-Residential : €290 (Lunch)

Building Bridges in Papua New Guinea: Sr Sally's Visit
For over 40 years children and adults from Kup village in Simbu, Papua New Guinea, have struggled to cross the mighty waters of the Wahgi River to get to the nearest town of Kundiawa… The only fast way is dangerous, yet vital, for the 5,000 people who live in the village of Kup. Currently, the villagers swim across the river’s fast-moving waters or sit on large black rubber tyre tubes and propel themselves across. This takes about 10-15 minutes, and they inevitably get soaked. School teachers make their way to work this way, families get to the markets and to buy supplies and villagers to churches.
