LED Lights Installed at Baggot Street
Editor: MIA is committed to addressing degradation of Earth, expressed in our new Vision Statement as ‘Actively engaged in the protection of our Common Home, we will witness to the sacredness of all creation’.
During this month MIC has undertaken an energy efficient lighting upgrade working with elight IRL, Europe’s biggest Light as a Service company, replacing all fittings at the Front of the House, along corridors and walkways, in bedrooms, offices and the kitchen and dining area – 460 replacement lights in total.
Energy efficient lighting benefits the environment and reduces energy use and costs.
Key benefits of our changeover include:
- Carbon emission reductions: 26.7 tonnes annually
- Operating cost savings: reduction of 70% annually
- Asset upgrade: reduced maintenance (LED lights last up to 6 times longer than other types) and improvements in operating standards and asset values
- Higher performance standards: the lighting is noticeably brighter. Less LED lights are needed to achieve the same level of brightness given off by fluorescents and incandescent lights
In reducing our carbon footprint in this way, we are taking care of our environment and at the same time, stewarding our resources.
