Members' Meeting takes place in Mercy International Centre

The Members' Meeting gets underway in reflective mode at Mercy International Centre.

We welcomed our Members to Mercy International Centre from Wednesday 14th May to Monday 19th May for their annual meeting. Members from across the Mercy World received a warm welcome and enjoyed several good cups of tea while they were with us.

Members took time on each of the days to meet together to look at planning and strategy and to share updates. On Saturday 17th May the Members joined the Board Directors of MIA for a joint meeting where they received updates from across MIA including the work of Opening Doors, the planned refurbishment of MIC and the upcoming 200th Anniversary Celebrations in 2027. Members also had time to meet with new members of staff.

Saturday evening saw the MIC chapel flooded with Summer light as the Members gathered for the celebration of the Eucharist with Father John O'Gara SM. Music was provided by Sr Patricia O'Donovan rsm, Sr Marie Cox rsm and Sr Ailish O'Brien rsm. Readings and reflections were shared by the Members and Directors including Sr Sheila Carney, Chair of the MIA Board.

Sunday 18th May saw the AGM of MIA taking place with Members, Directors and Staff present. The official financial statements were signed off as part of the Annual Report, which was also approved. It is available on our website here.

There was a final joint meeting of Directors and Members on Sunday after which the group visited Coolock House. Mercy Associate Anne Reid took them through the history of the house and the link with Catherine and Baggot Street. It was the first time for many of the group to visit Coolock House.

While the Members' Meeting concluded officially on Monday, many of the members stayed on to take other meetings. Sr Denise Fox rsm also took the time to record an episode of the MIA podcast Mercy Echoes which you can listen to here.

Before they departed the Members expressed their thanks to the team at MIA for the warmth of their hospitality and for all the work being undertaken.
