Mercy Asia Pacific Gathering to Take Place in Samoa

At the Mercy International Leader’s meeting in May this year, the Mercy Leaders of the Asia/Pacific asked to form a sub-group of MIA – ‘Mercy Asia Pacific’. The idea was to carry forward the themes of MIRP of 2016 - Displacement of persons and Degradation of the Earth at a regional level commencing with a gathering in Samoa November 19-25, 2018 to talk through the issues that affect each of the Asia/Pacific countries locally.

Sisters from each of the regions, Australia, Guam, New Zealand, Philippines, Papua New Guinea, Samao, Tonga will attend. The gathering will be facilitated by Richard Kerr who is the Mission Leader for the Nga Whaea Atawhai o Aotearoa Sisters of Mercy New Zealand.  Angela Reed rsm (Co-ordinator  MIA: Mercy Global Action at the UN) has also been asked to attend to lead several sessions from the international perspective.
