Advent is a time of expectant delight!
Advent is the four-week season before Christmas during which we make preparations for the coming of Christ.
The word Advent itself comes from the Latin word adventus, which means “coming”. The season of Advent is a time of waiting, listening, transformation and hope.
Advent Through the Lens of Mercy
During the four weeks of Advent, we will be sharing a reflection series on the classic themes of Advent which are: Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.
The four reflections will be offered by:
- Brenda Drumm, Head of Communications, who reflects on hope;
- Sr Anne Lyng, Co-Ordinator of Opening Doors, who reflects on peace;
- Caroline Thompson, Head of Heritage and Spirituality, who reflects on joy; and,
- Marietta Latonio, Leadership Advocacy Associate Mercy Global Action Emerging Leaders Fellowship, who reflects on love.
As Advent is a time of waiting, we will be inviting you to wait patiently for our reflections as they will not go live until the week preceding each of the four Sundays of Advent.
They will be available here and on our social media pages.
