On 24th September 2027 we will mark the 200th anniversary of the founding of the First House of Mercy at 64a Lower Baggot Street, Dublin by Catherine McAuley.
We are inviting the Mercy World to pray and share the official prayer for the anniversary year from Mercy Day 2026 - Mercy Day 2027.

Official Prayer for the 200th Anniversary of the First House of Mercy
24 September 1827 – 24 September 2027
Gracious and ever-living God,
on this sacred anniversary of
the opening of Catherine McAuley’s first House of Mercy
on Baggot Street,
we give thanks for the light that first burned there
two hundred years ago -
a light of welcome, compassion, and courageous love.
As we honour Catherine’s vision,
open our hearts to the same daring trust in Your Providence
that moved her to respond to the needs of her time:
to shelter the vulnerable,
to lift the burdened,
to teach with patience and tenderness,
and to heal with reverence for every human dignity.
Strengthen in us the spirit of Mercy -
bold in service,
steadfast in justice,
joyful in hope,
and ever-ready to accompany those
who stand at the edges of society.
Bless all who have carried the mission of Mercy
throughout these two centuries -
the Sisters of Mercy,
Mercy Associates,
Partners-in-ministry,
and all who continue Catherine’s work
through prayer, presence, and compassionate action.
As this third century of Mercy begins,
renew our commitment to be
living witnesses of Your loving-kindness
in our world so in need of healing.
May our lives echo Catherine’s enduring call:
that Mercy be shown,
Mercy be spoken,
Mercy be lived.
We ask this in the name of Jesus,
source of all Mercy,
and in the grace of the Spirit
who continues to guide us.

El 24 de septiembre de 2027 celebraremos el 200.º aniversario de la fundación de la Primera Casa de Misericordia, en 64a Lower Baggot Street, Dublín, por Catherine McAuley.

Oración Oficial por el 200.º Aniversario de la Primera Casa de la Misericordia
24 de septiembre de 1827 – 24 de septiembre de 2027
Dios bondadoso y siempre vivo,
en este sagrado aniversario de
la apertura de la primera Casa de la Misericordia de Catherine McAuley
en Baggot Street,
te damos gracias por la luz que allí comenzó a brillar
hace doscientos años:
una luz de acogida, compasión y amor valiente.
Al honrar la visión de Catherine,
abre nuestros corazones a esa misma confianza audaz en tu Providencia
que la impulsó a responder a las necesidades de su tiempo:
acoger y proteger a los más vulnerables,
aliviar las cargas de quienes sufrían,
enseñar con paciencia y ternura,
y sanar con reverencia por la dignidad de cada ser humano.
Fortalece en nosotros el espíritu de la Misericordia:
valiente en el servicio,
firme en la justicia,
gozoso en la esperanza,
y siempre dispuesto a acompañar a quienes
se encuentran en los márgenes de la sociedad.
Bendice a todos los que han llevado adelante la misión de la Misericordia
a lo largo de estos dos siglos:
las Hermanas de la Misericordia,
los Asociados de la Misericordia,
los Colaboradores en la misión,
y todos aquellos que continúan la obra de Catherine
a través de la oración, la presencia y la acción compasiva.
Al comenzar este tercer siglo de la Misericordia,
renueva nuestro compromiso de ser
testigos vivos de tu amor y bondad
en un mundo tan necesitado de sanación.
Que nuestras vidas hagan eco de la llamada permanente de Catherine:
que la Misericordia sea mostrada,
que la Misericordia sea proclamada,
que la Misericordia sea vivida.
Te lo pedimos en el nombre de Jesús,
fuente de toda Misericordia,
y por la gracia del Espíritu
que continúa guiándonos.
